How it was made
A month of filming by the owners
The brief
Pike & Plane is two people and a shop in Decatur. They wanted a film that shows how long a chair takes without asking anyone to sit through it, and they had filmed most of it themselves over a month.
The edit
Eleven hours of handheld footage became 1:45. I matched three cameras that were never meant to match, rebuilt the sound from the room tone up, and let the strokes of the plane set the pace.
What happened
Enquiries tripled in the month after the film went out, and the order book filled to March.
